DR. CYNTHIA McCARTY

Cynthia McCarty

After graduating from Auburn University, Dr. McCarty began her career in banking at AmSouth Bank in Birmingham, first in the Audit Department, and later in the International office, where she was a foreign exchange trader.  Once she had completed her MBA, Cynthia soon left for University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, where she completed a Ph.D. in Economics.  Since that time, she has taught economics at Jacksonville State University, where she also serves as Director of JSU's Center for Economic Education. 

 

As a public servant, Dr. McCarty was elected to serve as District VI's representative on the State Board of Education, where she is in her second term.

 

She loves working with educators, teaching, traveling, and attending college football and basketball games. 

 

Dr. McCarty is married with three children.
