PHILLIP SHIPLEY

Phil Shipley

Phillip Shipley is an Area Director for the Southern Region, Boy Scouts of America.   Phillip works with local professional staffs and volunteer boards to ensure that Scouting is delivered to youth and their parents by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.  Phillip believes that making sure every child has the opportunity to experience Outdoor Adventure, Leadership Development and understanding the Ethical Decision-making Process are key drivers that will secure our future.

Phillip started his career with the Boy Scouts of America in Montgomery, Alabama as a District Executive/Manager in 1994.  He was promoted to Memphis, Tennessee as a Field Director in 1999, managing nine District Executives, then went on to become the Chief Administrative Officer, Chief Operating Officer and finally the Chief Financial Officer in Memphis, before being promoted to Chief Executive Officer in Amarillo, Texas in August of 2015.  He has recently accepted the Area 2 Director position, serving local Scout Councils in Shreveport, LA, Texarkana, Tyler, Dallas, Fort Worth, Abilene, Wichita Falls, Lubbock and Amarillo, TX.

Phillip graduated with a BA from Carson Newman University.  He enjoys fly fishing and sporting clays.
