C.H. "Sonny" Savoie is a US Army Veteran and is retired from Texaco, Inc. after 32 years. He is currently serving in his 33 year on the St. Charles Parish School Board. He currently serves with the RJ Vial Elementary School and Allemands Elementary School PTAs. Previously, he was part of the National PTA Board of Directors in 2009-2011 and 2014-2016.

 

In the community, Sonny is involved with the St. Charles Parish School Education Foundation, Paradis-Des Allemands Museum Board, Lector St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and St. Charles Parish Board of Election Supervisors. He was president of the Paradis Volunteer Fire Department, president of the St. Charles Parish School Board, president of National Federation of Urban/Suburban School Districts, served on the Board of Directors for the National Federation of Urban/Suburban School Districts, President of the Louisiana School Boards Association and was President of the National School Boards Association 2009-2010.

 

Sonny has received the Louisiana School Board Member of the Year Award and the Seven Seals Award from National Guard and Reserves in 2009.  He is married to Merle D. Savoie and has two daughters and four grandchildren.

 

Sonny works part-time on a professional golf course and enjoys hunting and fishing.
